Dok-do issue.

On Monday morning, Jong-hyun Choi and his partner presented Dok-do issue. From last years, the Japanese government has insisted that Dok-do is Japanese area. Also, world many countries know that Dok-do is Japanese area and many world maps are marked as do. That is out of the question! Dok-do has been originally our land from a long time ago. Now, Japanese attitude is rude and are claiming farfetched opinion. Dok-do is a major are for military, fishing and resources. It is very important area for us. But, I think that the Korean government does not recognize seriousness of this problem. So, my opinion is that the Korean government should try to put forward evidence to support the truth.

First, the Korean government should spend money or manpower to insist that Dok-do is our area. I think that our government just thinks that this problem is not important. It is just regarding and riffing Dok-do issue. If this situation lasts, at the end we will lose our land.

Second, Korean people should recognize seriousness of this problem. Frankly speaking, due to hard reality and being busy to live, we do not bother Dok-do issue. We just think other’s problem and blame government. It is irresponsible mind and disqualified as Korean people.

Obviously, Japanese attitude should be changed, if Japan has conscience. But, the Korean government and we should try to inform that Dok-do is our land both materially and morally.

Ban of physical punishment in school.

  On Monday morning, Jung-min Lee and Jae-won Jung presented about ban of physical punishment in school. In recent, the Korean government published the law. The law is that ban of physical punishment in elementary, middle and high schools. This law causes many problems in education place and bad behavior of students. These problems are very amazing and dumbfounded our mind. Therefore, my opinion of ban of physical punishment in school is opposite.

  First, teacher’s authority may fall down. If physical punishment is perfectly removed, students will not respect their teachers and be bold. Then classroom will lose academic atmosphere and students who want to study hard may be damaged in learning class. Also, teachers do not control their students so relationship of teachers and students is collapsed.

  Second, other punishments (for example thinking chair or letter of apology and so on) are ineffective. I think if students do not feel physical afraid, rebellion and impudence will increase. Therefore, as you know, many students make impolite behaviors and crazy joke to teachers. It doesn’t make sense. In addition, because students do not feel sense of guilty by themselves, other punishments (for example thinking chair or letter of apology and so on) just become play.

  An announcement of the Korean government about ban of physical punishment in school is like a fish out of water. The Korean government should reconsider the law or adduce other punishments which replace physical punishment.

The radioactivity damages.

Due to taking yearbook, I wrote my Presentation.

  In recent news, as you know, March 11, 2011 due to an earthquake of 8.9-scale, Nuclear plant which produces energy by using nuclear fission suffered severe damage, thus the Radioactivity was leaked so leaking radiation becomes a major topic. Radioactivity is power of radiation. Radioactivity has many dangerous damages. But the Korean and Japanese governments cheated their nations and didn’t give exact information. They just spent time and stayed in having no responsibility. They should give their people data exactly and take a step

First, the Korean government has to demand figure of radioactivity damages and reward from Japan. The Korean government does not know danger of radioactivity and situation of Japan. Also, there are many Koreans in Japan and they lost their house, family and lives. Therefore, the Korean government ought to gain exact information and protect its people.

Second, the Japanese government should not cheat its people and the world. In April, it announced that the level of radioactivity in water was safe but it was lie. The level of radioactivity in water was much higher than baseline. The Japanese government should not make a mistake again and notify exact information of radioactivity and take a step as soon as possible.

Working Time Problem.

On Monday morning, Hye-woon Hwang and Sol Choi presented ‘Working Time Problem.’

Recently, due to be a topic about human rights and humanism, problems of the hours of labor are brought up. In Korea, many workers are working 10~12hours a day owing to the growth priority policy in the past. Also, they can’t be assured their welfare or personal time. Moreover, Korea working time is the highest one of the OECD countries. It is ashamed and ameliorated problems. My opinion about ‘Working Time Problem’ is to care for workers.

First, labor efficiency and productivity don’t depend on long working time. For example, Luxemburg has much shorter working time than our country but their labor efficiency is higher than Korea. Not labor time but thinking and considering workers much affect profit of companies.

Second, government should fortify regulation. Nowadays, there is labor law but it doesn’t become effective well especially working time. Therefore, companies are shaving around their employees and don’t pay attention lives of workers. To prevent these situations, government needs stronger law and regulation. Also, if working time is limited, companies will employ workers who labor at night so employment will increase.

  Workers who are guaranteed by their environment and welfare will do something well. To make these situations, companies should invest facilities and working environment for their workers in the long term, so result of investment will be rewarded by good outcome.

Hybrid car.

  On monday morning, Woo-jeong Park and Jae-seung Lee presented Hybrid car.

  Today, many solutions and alternative energy are being suggested due to jumping cost of fuel or environmental pollution. Especially, part of vehicle which is related with environmental pollution and cost of fuel tries to solve these problems by developing hybrid cars. The hybrid car is to use gasoline and electricity. If I buy a vehicle, I would purchase a hybrid car.

  The first reason is that initial cost of hybrid cars is more expensive than normal cars but after I could save cost of fuel. Because hybrid cars have high fuel efficiency, I can practice in economy in fuel and don’t have to feel uncomfortable owing to oil price increase.

  The second reason is that hybrid cars can offer us safe feeling more than normal cars due to heavy frame of cars. On the other hand, hybrid cars could not pick up speed as much as normal cars. However, in accidents or crash situations, since hybrid cars have car body, we are safer and will be protected.

  The third reason is that we can make earth clean and clear. If we decrease normal cars and increase hybrid cars, air pollution will be reduced and air condition will be much better.

  Hybrid cars which come into the market but don’t go current have not only pros but also cons. But if we and government encourage hybrid cars, a good result will be like as air purification, reduction in air pollution or healthy life.

Pros and Cons of Genetically Modified Food.

  On Monday morning, Jung-min Lee and Soo-jin Yoon presented Pros and Cons of Genetically Modified Food. Genetically Modified Food is known as GMO foods. After I saw the presentation, I felt strongly that we should stop using GMO foods due to affecting bad effects on not only us but also ecosystem. This is reasons that I obejct to GMO. 
 
  First, GMO could threat the ecosystem. As seen by presentation, Super salmons which were raised by GMO are much bigger than general salmons, even younger. And these are eating much more or have strong reproduction than general salmons. Therefore, general salmons will become extinct by Super salmons. If general salmons die out, food chain will be broken and then ecosystem will be in danger.
  
  Second, GMO foods have potential diseases. Nowadays, though simple diseases like peanut disease in Brazil or common allergy appeared, our dietary life and healthy  are being menaced due to GMO foods which have potential diseases. Because we don’t have any information or symptom about potential diseases, they are more dangerous in our lives.
 
  Practically, GMO foods are used in many parts sausages, hams and so on. Also, people think that we can make alternative energy or solve the food problem by using GMO foods. I agree this point, too, but basically GMO foods which threat our dietary life and healthy should be treated by regulation of government or obvious labeling systems for our lives.

Social Commerce.

  On Monday morning, Bo-ra Lim and Tae-won Kim explained about Social Commerce in Korea. Recently, Social Commerce is being used by many people and being supplied widely. Especially, young people who familiar the Internet or Smart Phone are using Social Commerce, and it confer a benefit to our. Therefore, my opinion about Social Commerce is that we should take advantage of Social Commerce more and more.

  First, we enjoy products of the high class more cheaply. Most of students same like me can’t experience lives of high price and goods of high class. But due to companies like Social Commerce which give our big sale, we can taste these products and enjoy our lives more richly.

  Second, Social Commerce has so many products that we can choose parts of products which we need. Although department stores or discount stores are giving sale to our, parts of sale are restrictive. But Social Commerce offers many parts and is easily purchased.

  Third, we can make our lives glowing. Contemporary old people who don’t familiar use the Internet or Smart Phone and don’t know Social Commerce are living in being satisfied with their situations or income. But by using Social Commerce, young people can experience many things without economical problems or income situations.

  But, now a law about Social Commerce doesn’t exist. So, customers who use Social Commerce should be careful of contraction of coupons and government has to make a law as fast as possible.

Cohabitation in Korea.

  Monday morning, Jung-min and Sang-chul presented about Cohabitation before marriage in Korea. In our country, recently many problems are happening due to cohabitation before marriage. To live together former marriage is very argumentative issue and accompanied by a lot of opinions. So, my opinionof this subject is the opposite.

 
 First, cohabitants may get hurt on the impulse of the moment. To know spouses’ tendency after promising marriage doesn’t make problems. But, if people cohabitdue to effect of media or just economic aspects, they will have little emotional band and responsibility.

 
 Second, cohabitants can’t be protected by law. Finland or in some other European countries are supporting cohabitation and have law which protects them. However, in our country which has a strong conservative inclination, not only law for cohabitants doesn’t exist but also people look them discriminatorily.

 
 Lastly, there are many cases of marry after pregnancy, but breaking up after pregnancy is more than those because they feel less responsibility. Therefore, rate of single mothers and abortion cannot help increasing. Also, Korea doesn’t have many facilities for single mother. These problems are one of the most serious things in our society.

 
 I agree that cohabitation assuming marriage is good, but cohabitation can cause social and personal problems. In conclusion, we refrain from cohabitation as possible as and government should make law for cohabitants.

Refugees in Korea. - Korea should take care of refugees.

There are some refugee camps in Korea. There are many people who have dissatisfaction of their country and unavoidable or dangerous situations in their country. My opinion for these people is that we should accommodate refugees in Korea.

First, there are many cases that are to protect their lives and avoid hard situations. Therefore, most of refugees cannot help choosing refuge due to terrible situations. If they are someone who do to study or work, they are not refugees. So, government should take care of refugees and provide them with place to rest.

Second, in spite of being not legal immigrants, as refugees are working in hard and exhausting work, they are giving economy of our country support. In Korea, recognized as 3D(dangerous, dirty, difficult) jobs feel shortages of labor because most of Koreans want to work at good firms, providing high salary, and more easy duty. Truly, so refugees are in these areas, many industries of our country benefit from their sacrifice.

Lastly, as our country helps refugees, it will win humanity recognition from the world. From old times, Korea has affection and prefers public to private. It is hard that our country look after people who do not set foot somewhere and are tired by starvation. But, if we get in trouble, we will receive aid from other countries. On the other hand, Korea should nationally support refugees to study about Korea and become legal immigrants. Also, it makes a shelter for refugees.

Therefore, after presentation my opinion is that we should support money and policy for refugees nationally and humanely.
